When Vice President Joe Biden announced plans to install 500,000 EV charging stations around the United States, Elon Musk urged him to instead purchase a Tesla. Biden has just announced the disbursement of the initial cash for a countrywide EV charging network, which will pay for the installation of stations in 35 different states.
We’re installing charge stations for electric vehicles all around the country. Vice President Joe Biden announced on Twitter that the “great American road trip” would soon be completely powered by electricity. Musk replied: “Or you can just buy a Tesla“. Musk added, “Worth mentioning that Tesla has open-sourced its charge connector and is enabling other EVs to use Tesla Superchargers.”
“You hired me to get things done – I hope I’m making you proud,” Biden added on his @POTUS account. Musk reacted once more, saying, “I kinda like this post tbh (to be honest)”.

After President Trump failed to mention Tesla in his State of the Union address earlier this year, Elon Musk claimed that “no one was watching” Vice President Joe Biden. Musk told CNBC, “Nobody is watching the State of the Union.”
During his national address, Vice President Joe Biden praised Ford and General Motors for investing a total of $18 billion to develop electric vehicles. As Musk said in a later tweet addressed directly to Vice President Joe Biden, “Tesla has created over 50,000 US jobs building electric vehicles and is investing more than double GM + Ford combined.” The CEO of Tesla has remarked that Biden “is treating the American public like fools.”
However, in his first-ever public acknowledgment of Musk-run Tesla’s contribution to the world of EVs, Biden remarked in February that the US is developing a reliable national public charging network to offset the Chinese challenge in the EV market.
“From iconic companies like GM and Ford building out new electric vehicle production to Tesla, our nation’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, to innovative younger companies, manufacturing is coming back to America after decades,” he had said.
To counter Vice President Joe Biden’s announcement that the United States would create 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations, Elon Musk suggested that Biden instead buy a Tesla. To fund the installation of stations in 35 states, Vice President Biden has today announced the initial funding for a nationwide EV charging network.
